About Us.

About Us

We are two sisters who were able to experience life through the beauty of the Caribbean from birth to our young childhood years before settling in the United States as teens. Throughout this journey, we were fortunate enough to embrace the vibrance and diversity of many cultures.

We wear many hats; we have successful careers in Education, Social Work and Nursing. However, being a mom trumps them all. It has become a priority for us to expose our children to things that relate to them and reflect their life experiences. For so long, there has been a struggle to find something as simple as coloring books that reflects the image of black and brown children.

This challenge led to the creation of Color My Culture! We want children, especially those of black and brown cultural descent be able to open a book and say “hey, they look like me!” The positive affirmations are an addition to our coloring books to remind children of their superpower, their inner greatness!

Through Color My Culture, our mission is to motivate parents to speak life into their children. If you are a parent looking for a way to empower your children, this book is for you! Even if you are not a parent and are looking for an outlet to release stress and anxiety, there are coloring books available here for you too!

We are INTENTIONAL about the images we create and our messages.

We desire to INSPIRE parents to speak life into their children.

Lastly, we aim to be IMPACTFUL; we want children to feel seen, loved, and valued for who they are.

Benefits of Coloring:

The benefits of coloring are wide and varied and are perfect for any age group.

In children it can help them to learn about colors, tones, patterns, shapes, forms and perspectives.

It also helps children to improve their motor skills and develop hand/eye coordination.

Completing a coloring book gives children a sense of achievement that they can build upon and improves their confidence with each image they finish.

Moreover, our books help children learn, not just about themselves but of the wider world around them, building a cultural understanding that will serve them well throughout their lives.

For adults, the act of coloring is ideal for unwinding after a long day and by repeating the processes and immersing ourselves in the attention that is required, we focus on the activity rather than what may be worrying us. As a result, coloring provides a soothing and relaxing pastime that is great for anyone from busy moms to stressed company executives.
